Interim measure from the Competition Board to Haribo: 30 percent of stands to be allocated to competitor products

The Competition Board has decided to impose an interim measure on Haribo Şekerleme San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. within the scope of the investigation conducted against the company.

According to the statement made by the Competition Authority, the decision was taken during the investigation process initiated to determine whether Haribo violated the Law on the Protection of Competition. The Board aimed to prevent potential competition violations and irreparable damages that may occur in the soft candy market.

Within the scope of the measure, a new regulation will be implemented for Haribo stands located in traditional retail outlets of 200 square meters or less, to be put into effect within one month from the notification of the reasoned decision.

Accordingly, an area corresponding to 30 percent of the stand volume, provided that it is in the visible part of the stands, on a vertical plane, and in a single block, will be allocated to competitor brand products, along with a label bearing the phrase "This area is reserved for competitor products." This practice will apply to competitor brands that do not have a soft candy stand at the relevant retail point.

Haribo is required to document to the Competition Authority that it has fulfilled the obligations stipulated in the decision within one month. Otherwise, an administrative fine may be imposed on the company.

In the institution's statement, it was noted that the investigation conducted against Haribo is ongoing. The interim measure will remain in effect until the Board reaches its final decision.
