Iron and steel sector performance brings optimism
The Aegean Steel and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association has exceeded its 2024 export target, reaching 2.35 billion dollars in exports.
Despite new customs tariffs, global stagnation, and high costs, the iron and steel sector is moving toward its 2.2 billion dollar target for 2025.
Speaking at the 2024 ordinary financial general assembly meeting of the Aegean Steel and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association, Yalçın Ertan, Coordinator Vice President of the Aegean Exporters' Associations and Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Steel and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association, stated, "As members of the Aegean Steel and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association, we have left another challenging year behind. Although there was a slight decline in our export figures compared to the previous year, thanks to the intense efforts of our exporters, we managed to exceed our 2.2 billion USD export target set for 2024 despite all the difficulties, and we completed 2024 with 2 billion 354 million USD. With the export figure we reached, we have maintained the leadership title we have held for seven years among the associations under our General Secretariat in 2024 as well."
