Is an improvement coming for pensions? It is being discussed in the corridors

Work has begun within the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to increase the base salary and welfare share for pensions. It is anticipated that the lowest pension will be raised above the 10,000 TL band to 12,500 TL within the scope of the inflation adjustment. 

According to a report by ekonomim.com, the base salary, which is the basis for the salary increase, will be increased by the inflation rate. Thus, the base salary will be raised by 25 percent to improve the economic conditions of citizens whose salaries remain low. 

For the necessary legal regulation to be submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament, the announcement of the six-month inflation difference in the first week of July will be awaited.

TREASURY SUPPORT

The difference arising from applying salary increases to base salaries is covered by the Treasury. Thus, Treasury support is provided so that 7 million people who retired in 2000 or later and receive a base salary ranging between 5,500 TL and 8,000 TL can be paid the lowest pension of 10,000 lira.

For this reason, the focus has been on finalizing the negotiations conducted between the bureaucrats of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

INFLATION IS THE MOST CRITICAL POINT

It has been learned that there is a consensus that while no increase can be made to salaries outside of the inflation difference, the lowest pension cannot be kept at the 10,000 TL band.

Furthermore, it was reported that the base salary limit will be raised so that citizens with a base pension of 8,000 TL and below can benefit from the raise.
