Istanbul Planning Agency President Buğra Gökçe explains one by one: Is London more expensive or Istanbul?
London, often cited among the world's most expensive cities, has lost its lead in this regard to Istanbul, which has recently been constantly facing the reality of price hikes.
While economists who say that Turkey's economy is constantly deteriorating and citizens who struggle to even meet their daily needs are constantly rebelling to make their voices heard, the government front insists on not hearing these grievances.
A warning to government officials who defend the thesis that Western states are jealous of Turkey also came from Istanbul Planning Agency President Buğra Gökçe.
Gökçe compared the prices at the UK's largest supermarket chain, Sainsbury's, with those at a supermarket chain in Istanbul. In a comparison of 20 basic kitchen products, items that cost 2 thousand 972 liras in London amounted to 3 thousand 297 liras in Istanbul.

While the amount in London corresponds to 3 percent of the minimum wage, this rate was calculated as 19 percent in Istanbul.
The research was conducted by comparing the prices at the UK's largest supermarket chain, Sainsbury's, with those at a supermarket chain in Istanbul.
The comparative table of the products included in Gökçe's post on his social media account is as follows:
