ITO announces Istanbul's October inflation

ITO announces Istanbul's October inflation

According to data released by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), consumer prices in Istanbul rose by 3.31% in October compared to the previous month. In this index, which serves as a leading indicator for TUIK data, the annual increase rate was calculated at 40.84%.

The following statements were included in ITO's assessment:

"In October 2025, the monthly increase in the ITO Istanbul Consumer Price Index, which is an indicator of retail price movements in Istanbul, was 3.31 percent.

The rate of change compared to the same month of the previous year, which shows the price changes experienced in Istanbul in October 2025 compared to October 2024, was 40.84 percent in the 'ITO 2023=100' based ITO Istanbul Consumer Price Index."

WHOLESALE PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE

The Wholesale Price Index, which increased by 1.29% in the September 2025 period, did not slow down in October and rose by 1.51%. The change in the index compared to the same month of the previous year was 23.78%, and the annual average increase was 29.73%.

In October 2025, on a monthly basis in wholesale prices;

  • Food products increased by 3.40%,
  • Fuel and energy materials increased by 3.13%,
  • Mining group increased by 2.53%,
  • Construction materials increased by 1.05%.

On the other hand;

  • Chemical substances saw a decrease of -0.81%,
  • Unprocessed materials saw a decrease of -0.91%.
  • There was no change in the textile group.

SHARPEST INCREASE IN ANNUAL AVERAGE GROWTH SEEN IN CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

When looking at annual averages as of October 2025, price increases by group were as follows:

  • Construction materials: 55.47%
  • Textiles: 43.72%
  • Food products: 29.49%
  • Unprocessed materials: 27.05%
  • Fuel and energy: 22.30%
  • Chemical substances: 18.78%
  • Mining: 17.94%
