ITO announces: The price hike champion in Istanbul has been determined

According to ITO data, the product with the highest price increase in Istanbul in May compared to the previous month was bridge toll fees, while the product with the highest price decrease was pointed pepper.

ITO announces: The price hike champion in Istanbul has been determined

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest increases and decreases in retail prices in the city for May, along with their rates of change.

Accordingly, out of the 242 products included in the Istanbul Wage Earners Cost of Living Index, the retail prices of 147 products increased, the prices of 21 products decreased, and the prices of 74 products remained unchanged.

In May, bridge toll fees, which are in the transportation and communication expenditure group, became the product with the highest price increase at 60 percent.

Some of the other products that experienced price increases were identified as scientific and literary books from the culture, education, and entertainment expenditure group at 43.75 percent, municipal tap water at 37.12 percent, women's underwear from the clothing expenditure group at 29.62 percent, lemons from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures at 26.68 percent, irons from the household goods expenditure group at 23.92 percent, men's underwear from the clothing expenditure group at 16.18 percent, zucchini from the food expenditure group at 15.90 percent, chocolate at 13.71 percent, and bleach from the household goods expenditure group at 13.20 percent.

POINTED PEPPER PRICE FELL BY 44.57 PERCENT

In May, the price of pointed pepper, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, decreased by 44.57 percent, making it the product with the highest price drop.

Other products that saw a decrease in price were recorded as plums from the food expenditure group at 28.37 percent, green beans at 25.17 percent, tomatoes at 24.73 percent, peas at 23.04 percent, curly lettuce at 9.36 percent, and green onions at 9.02 percent.
