Last day for tax debt restructuring
Those wishing to restructure their tax office and Social Security Institution (SGK) debts must complete their applications today. The regulation offers installment options of up to 72 months.
The application period for the restructuring opportunity offered for public debts such as taxes, premiums, traffic fines, motor vehicle tax (MTV), and student loans ends today. Citizens who wish to pay their debts in installments must complete their transactions by Monday, August 31, 2026.
The restructuring regulation covers certain public receivables that were due but unpaid as of June 5. Within this scope, applications can be made for income and corporate taxes, VAT, MTV, fees, administrative traffic fines, ecrimisil (occupational compensation), judicial fines, and student loan debts.
The regulation offers debtors installment options of up to 12, 36, 48, or 72 months, depending on their financial situation and the type of debt. It is also stated that the annual deferred interest rate has been reduced from 39 percent to 29 percent.
On the SGK side, premium debts of employers who employ workers and insured persons under Bağ-Kur for June 2026 and earlier, as well as insurance and unemployment insurance premium debts, fall within the scope of the restructuring. Additionally, administrative fines that have been notified and finalized by August 31, 2026, can also be restructured.
Applications for tax debts can be made via the Revenue Administration's website and the Digital Tax Office. There is also an option to apply directly to the tax office where the debt is held or by mail.
The debtor's financial situation and the type of receivable will be taken into account when determining the number of installments. For taxpayers who had an active tax registration as of June 16 and keep books based on a balance sheet or business account, the liquidity ratio will be taken as the basis.
