As the price of lemons sold at a local market in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye soared to 100 lira per kilogram and 27 lira apiece, a vendor stated, "A kilo of lemons is 100 lira. Some buy one, some buy a kilo. One lemon weighs 270 grams, which makes it 27 lira. Our customers buy them one by one, and they also buy them by the kilo."

'IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE, WE CANNOT BUY IT, WE CANNOT EAT IT'

Citizens expressed their reactions to the high lemon prices with angry words:

"It is too expensive, we cannot buy it, we cannot eat it. I will have to use citric acid instead. How are we going to live with these prices?"

"Our people are suffering here because it is very expensive. There is no budget, we are forced to buy only what we need, but we have to count every one or two. This situation has become unbearable."

"How can we buy it for 100 lira? It is expensive, we cannot buy it, we cannot eat it. Is this the effect of the frost, I wonder?"

"The weather was cold this year, frost hit, we cannot buy it, we cannot eat it. It is not the same without lemon, we buy one when we are desperate, what else can we do? The markets need to be regulated."

PRICE HIKES CAUSED BY FROST CONTINUE

While the snowfall and agricultural frost experienced in April caused product prices to rise, citizens asked, "The weather was cold this year, it snowed in April, there was a cold frost event, that is why it is expensive. We cannot buy it, how can I buy it when it is 100 lira a kilo right now? Who will regulate the markets?"
