Live animals and carcass meat imported to Turkey are sold cheaply to crony companies

CHP Istanbul MP Özgür Karabat detailed his claims that live animals and carcass meat arriving in Turkey are sold cheaply to crony companies and that significant rent is being generated from this trade.

Sharing on his social media account, Karabat stated that meat is arriving in large quantities from Hungary, Poland, France, and Italy, and that Mücahid Taylan, a member of the board of directors of the Meat and Milk Board (ESK) and an advisor to Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, plays an active role in these imports through his company in Hungary.

"A COMPLETE DISGRACE"

Sharing the document showing that Mücahid Taylan is one of the 3 partners of a company named Green Farm And Trade Kft. operating in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, Karabat said, "In one of the countries from which Turkey imports the most animals, a public official who facilitates these imports owns a company. This person also serves as an advisor to the Minister of Agriculture. No matter how you look at it, we are facing a complete disgrace."

"THEY SHOULD ALL RESIGN"

Karabat also stated that the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, the President of the ESK, and all ESK executives should resign and be held accountable before the judiciary.
