Mahfi Eğilmez illustrates the country's economic downturn with a striking example
Economist Mahfi Eğilmez demonstrated that Turkey's economic policies are not in line with those applied globally, using a reference to Argentina.
Following the announcement of the cabinet by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, Mehmet Şimşek, who would serve as the Minister of Treasury and Finance, took over the position from Nureddin Nebati on June 4, 2023, and signaled a return to realistic economics.
Although Mehmet Şimşek, who began raising interest rates from that moment on and made visits abroad to secure funds for the treasury, has been trying to pull Turkey onto a realistic economic path, the economic trajectory is considered poor by experts due to the price hikes and the ever-increasing cost of living.
While Turkey, which did not raise interest rates for a long time unlike other countries, is now trying to follow the economic policies pursued by other nations, the situation continues to deteriorate.
Economist Mahfi Eğilmez showed through a social media post that this downturn is the result of management decisions and that our country's poor performance should be evaluated as a unique type of economy.

Stating that there is a third type of economy contrary to what is known, Eğilmez included Argentina, which has reached the point of economic collapse, and made the following post:
"There are three types of economies: (1) Developed economies, (2) Developing economies, (3) Argentina and Turkey"
