Major hike for residential electricity subscribers: Rate announced

While a 25 percent increase was applied to the tariff for residential electricity subscribers, there was no increase in the tariff for residential natural gas subscribers.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) has announced the new tariffs for electricity and natural gas.

According to the written statement made by the EMRA, the tariff changes will be effective as of April 5.

Accordingly, due to the increase in electricity generation and distribution costs, final retail electricity sales prices have been increased by 25 percent for the residential subscriber group, 15 percent for the public and private services sector subscriber group, 10 percent for the industrial subscriber group, and 12.4 percent for the agricultural activities subscriber group.

With this increase, the amount to be paid for a residential subscriber with 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity consumption has been set at 259.04 Turkish Lira.

NATURAL GAS TARIFF FOR RESIDENCES REMAINED STABLE

No changes were made to the sales price that the Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) will apply to distribution companies for residential consumers in April.

Thus, the tariff for residences remained fixed at 5 thousand 631 Turkish Lira for 1000 cubic meters of natural gas.

On the other hand, in line with the wholesale sales prices announced on BOTAŞ's website, it was stated that final natural gas sales prices were increased by an average of 20 percent for industrial consumers and an average of 24.2 percent for electricity generation plants.

Natural gas price tariffs are calculated on a monthly basis.
