Markets in motion: Which investment vehicle performed best this week?

Borsa Istanbul closed the week with a strong rally, as the BIST 100 index gained 8.78 percent. While the dollar declined, the euro and gold prices rose. Investment funds also posted gains, with exchange-traded funds (ETFs) seeing the highest returns.

Markets in motion: Which investment vehicle performed best this week?

Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul ended the week with gains for investors. The BIST 100 index closed at 10,507.11 points, marking a weekly gain of 8.78 percent. During the week, the index hit a low of 9,748.03 points and reached a high of 10,556.78 points, demonstrating strong performance.

Activity in the foreign exchange market continued. The US dollar lost 0.18 percent throughout the week, falling to 36.4480 Turkish liras, while the euro provided gains for investors, rising 4.19 percent to 39.5810 liras.

An upward trend was also observed in the gold market. In the Grand Bazaar, the gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold increased by 2.34 percent to 3,418 liras, while the Republic gold coin reached 23,170 liras with a 2.39 percent rise. Quarter gold coins gained 2.43 percent on a weekly basis, finding buyers at 5,730 liras.

Investment funds also saw significant activity. On a weekly basis, investment funds gained 1.76 percent, while pension funds rose by 2.80 percent. Among fund categories, the highest returns were seen in "exchange-traded funds" with a 5.92 percent gain.
