Massive midnight hike for diesel! (Current fuel prices for February 24, 2026)
Volatility in the oil market and fluctuations in exchange rates have resulted in a new price hike of 2 lira and 40 kurus per liter of diesel. Diesel prices in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir have climbed above 60 lira.
Fluctuations in global oil markets continue to directly impact fuel prices in Turkey. Recent statements regarding the US preparing for a possible military intervention in Iran, combined with Iran's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz, have heightened concerns about supply shortages in the market. In addition, the rise in foreign exchange rates has increased the pressure on fuel costs.
All these developments have been reflected in the pump price of diesel as a significant hike of 2 lira and 40 kurus. The new prices, which went into effect on February 24, 2026, are particularly challenging for diesel users. As prices were updated at midnight, the price per liter of diesel reached record levels, especially in Istanbul, as well as in Ankara and Izmir.
The price per liter of diesel rose to 60.30 TL on the European side of Istanbul and 60.15 TL on the Anatolian side. In Ankara, the price rose to 61.41 TL, and in Izmir, it reached 61.69 TL. There were no immediate changes to gasoline and LPG prices; they remain at their current levels.
While there is no price increase for gasoline and LPG for the time being, the direction of the markets will be determined by developments in the oil and foreign exchange markets.
