In a statement released on the website of the Meat and Milk Board (ESK), it was stated that imports are carried out in a balanced manner, in proportion to market needs, to prevent manipulative price increases in the red meat markets.

The statement said, "This statement has become necessary following the baseless and untrue allegations made by Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat regarding the market regulation activities that our institution conducts in a transparent manner. Our institution conducts imports in a balanced manner, in proportion to market needs, in order to prevent manipulative price increases in the red meat markets. As ESK, we show sensitivity to protecting both the producer and the consumer with a price policy determined in line with farmer costs. All of our institution's overseas purchases are carried out through a tender process, without the use of any intermediaries, by receiving offers from corporate slaughterhouses in the EU, in accordance with regulations, and within the framework of competition and equal opportunity."

WHAT HAPPENED?

CHP Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat, in a statement made in Parliament, described a rent-seeking system established through live animals brought from abroad.

Sharing on his social media account, Karabat explained the process of giving animals brought from countries such as Hungary, Poland, France, and Italy to a meatball chain close to the AKP, and reported that the loss was billed to citizens through the Meat and Milk Board. Karabat added that the system would also begin to be applied for animals coming from South America.
