Meat prices in Istanbul fixed until the end of Ramadan

While the rise in red meat prices has been straining budgets, markets that are members of the Istanbul Food and Consumer Goods Retailers Association (Istanbul PERDER) have announced that they have fixed red meat prices until the end of Ramadan. Accordingly, until the end of Ramadan, ground meat will be sold for 379 liras, and cubed meat for 399 liras.

TO BE IMPLEMENTED THROUGH LOCAL MARKETS

Stating that they will implement this decision through local markets in Istanbul within the framework of the protocol they have signed with the Meat and Milk Board (ESK), Istanbul PERDER Chairman of the Board Faruk Güzeldere said the following:

"Within the framework of the protocol we have signed with the Meat and Milk Board, we have fixed meat prices starting from today until the end of the month of Ramadan. The practice will continue until the end of Ramadan. We will deliver meat to households at affordable prices. Through our member local chain markets across Istanbul, we will offer ground meat at 379 liras per kilogram and cubed meat at 399 liras until the end of Ramadan. We are reaching all households with the local retail network we have established with our 66 member markets, nearly 2,700 branches, and approximately 43 thousand employees in Istanbul."

PRICES OF 'PREMIUM MEATS' ALSO FIXED

Güzeldere also stated that prices have been fixed in categories covered under "premium meats," adding, "Top round is 459 liras, striploin and steak are 649 liras, and ribeye and veal chops are 699 liras. We will meet with our consumers at bountiful tables."
