Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced the positive developments in Turkey's risk premium (CDS) via his social media account on X. Şimşek stated that Turkey's risk premium has fallen below 250 basis points, reaching its lowest level since February 2020.
CONFIDENCE IN THE ECONOMIC PROGRAM
Minister Şimşek included the following statements in his post:
“The CDS, which has fallen to its lowest level since February 2020, is one of the most concrete indicators of the confidence in our economic program and the gains of our program.”
Mehmet Şimşek pointed out that while there has been an average decline of 49 basis points in the risk premiums of emerging countries since May 2023, Turkey has recorded an improvement of 456 basis points during this period.
Mentioning the positive effects of the decline in the risk premium on the economy, Şimşek said, “Thanks to our improving risk premium, access to external financing is becoming easier while the cost of external financing is also decreasing.”
