Midday in the markets: Latest on the dollar, euro, gold, and the stock market (April 22, 2024)

The stock market rose in the first half of the day.

As of 13:00, the index had increased by 76.96 points compared to the previous close, reaching 9,770.42 points. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 9,693.46 points on the last trading day of last week, started the week with a 1.04 percent rise at 9,794.74 points.

During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 9,764.31 points and a high of 9,831.50 points.

In the first half of the day, the technology index gained 2.42 percent, the services index 1.58 percent, the industrial index 1.27 percent, and the financial index 0.38 percent.

Compared to the previous close, 79 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose in the first half of the day, while 19 lost value. The most actively traded stocks were Türk Hava Yolları, Pegasus, Akbank, Tüpraş, and Alarko Holding.

GOLD OUNCE PRICE AT 2 THOUSAND 360 DOLLARS

As of 13:00, the simple yield of the benchmark bond maturing on February 18, 2026, traded in the Borsa Istanbul Debt Securities Market Outright Purchases and Sales Market, was at 41.12 percent, and the compound yield was at 45.35 percent.

In international markets, as of 13:00, the euro/dollar parity was at 1.0650, the sterling/dollar parity at 1.2340, and the dollar/yen parity at 154.75.

In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 32.5900 liras and the euro at 34.7150 liras.

The ounce of gold is trading at 2 thousand 360 dollars with a 1.4 percent decrease in international markets, and a barrel of London Brent crude oil is trading at 85.9 dollars with a 0.7 percent decrease.
