Minimum wage forecast from the banking giant that hit the mark for 2025
JPMorgan expects the minimum wage in Turkey to increase by 25 percent in 2026. It is stated that this increase will be in line with the 12-month expected inflation.
US-based financial giant JPMorgan has estimated that the minimum wage in Turkey will increase by 25 percent next year. This forecast was included in JPMorgan's Turkey Consumer Companies 2026 Outlook report.
The report stated that 2025 was a challenging year for companies due to slowing revenues and margin pressure, which caused a 20 percent decline in real earnings. However, an improvement in macroeconomic conditions is expected in 2026. Analysts emphasize that consumer demand is still fragile.
GROWTH EXPECTATION IN THE TURKISH ECONOMY
JPMorgan projects that the Turkish economy will grow by 4.4 percent in 2026. This growth rate places Turkey among the fastest-growing economies when compared to other emerging markets such as Poland and Gulf countries.
EXPECTED INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGE
The report stated that the minimum wage is an important catalyst for the market and that JPMorgan anticipates a 25 percent increase, consistent with the 12-month expected inflation.
