Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made statements regarding topics of public interest concerning natural gas and electricity bills.
Speaking on a Kanal 7 broadcast, Bayraktar said that no changes to natural gas prices are planned for October and November.
Currently, we do not have a planned price change, but we are monitoring developments and the budget situation. For now, we have no such adjustment plan for October and November.
Bayraktar stated that the system of state subsidies applied to electricity and natural gas bills continues. Recalling that the annual subsidy limit for electricity was reduced from 5 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2025 to 4 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2026, Bayraktar indicated that a new limit will be determined for 2027.
Minister Bayraktar suggested that the new limit could be set below 4 thousand kilowatt-hours, signaling that the practice of excluding high-consumption subscribers from the subsidy scope will continue.

HOW DOES THE NATURAL GAS SUBSIDY SYSTEM WORK?
Explaining that a similar practice for natural gas was implemented in April 2026, Bayraktar noted that the scope of the subsidy is determined based on average consumption. Giving the example of Ankara, Bayraktar said that the average household consumption in October was 100 cubic meters, and subscribers consuming 175 cubic meters were removed from the subsidy group because they exceeded the average by 75 percent.
Stating that state support for natural gas used in residences is at a high level, Bayraktar noted that in Turkey, one thousand cubic meters of natural gas is provided to households at a level of 220 dollars, while this figure is at the 1000 dollar level in Europe. The Minister stated that for this reason, the subsidy is over 50 percent.
Providing information on winter preparations, Bayraktar also said that Turkey's natural gas storage facilities reached 100 percent occupancy as of July and that the country is entering the winter with full storage.
BLACK SEA GAS AND OIL PRODUCTION TARGETS
Another topic on Bayraktar's agenda was natural gas production in the Black Sea. Stating that the goal is to increase daily production to 20 million cubic meters with the commissioning of the Osman Gazi floating production platform, the Minister noted that starting from 2027, the platform will produce natural gas worth 10 million dollars daily and 3.5-3.6 billion dollars annually at current prices.
Stating that 4 million households in Turkey currently use domestic natural gas, Bayraktar expressed that this number will rise to 8 million with the Osman Gazi platform. He announced that the second floating production platform is expected to set sail for Turkey in December 2027 and reach the country in the first quarter of 2028.

Stating that daily production in Gabar has reached 84 thousand barrels in oil production, Bayraktar said that production could exceed 100 thousand barrels. He conveyed that with new discoveries in Adıyaman, the goal is to increase production by approximately 50 percent to 15 thousand barrels per day.
Bayraktar also said that Turkish Petroleum is a 15 percent partner in the Kirkuk fields and that they believe there are 3 billion barrels of reserves in the region. Regarding the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, he stated that 1090 separate tests are being conducted for the first reactor and that the goal is to complete the nuclear fuel loading process before the end of the year.
