In the investigation launched by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance into taxpayers evading taxes by collecting payments via IBAN, it was initially determined that 1.5 billion liras in earnings had been left unregistered.
The Treasury, which imposed 250 million liras in tax penalties, has been seen to be targeting many taxpayer groups, ranging from luxury restaurant chains to social media influencers who have turned to unregistered methods via IBAN.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek commented on this news on his social media account.
Minister Şimşek stated, "We are determined to ensure justice in taxation through widespread and intensive audits. Businesses that collect payments through unregistered methods are under our surveillance."
