Minister Şimşek makes statement on 'structural reform'
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek shared a post on his social media account regarding Turkey's March exports. Şimşek stated, "We will further strengthen our position in global trade with structural reforms that will increase productivity."
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek made statements regarding export figures on his X account.
Quoting AA's post stating that Turkey's March exports were 22 billion 571 million dollars, imports were 29 billion 912 million dollars, and the foreign trade deficit fell to 7 billion 341 million dollars, he said the following:

The improvement trend in the annual foreign trade deficit has continued uninterrupted for eight months. In March, the annual foreign trade deficit improved by 26 billion dollars compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 92 billion dollars.
In the first quarter of 2024, annual goods exports reached 257.6 billion dollars, and tourism revenues reached 56.3 billion dollars.
Supply chains reshaped after the pandemic, strategic competition, and fragmentation in global trade are increasing the trend of sourcing from friendly and nearby countries.
With its strategic location, Turkey is one of the countries most positively affected by these trends.
We will further strengthen our position in global trade with structural reforms that will increase productivity."
