Minister Şimşek signs memorandum for financing support with EBRD

Under the auspices of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, a memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide 500 million euros in new financing support from the EBRD for the earthquake-stricken region.

Minister Şimşek signs memorandum for financing support with EBRD

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation, led by First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink, met with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek at the Ministry.

During the meeting, Turkey's economic program and strong cooperation with the Bank were discussed, as well as the EBRD's financing support for the earthquake region.

During the delegation's visit to Şimşek, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry and the EBRD to provide 500 million euros in financing from the EBRD as part of the aforementioned financing package. The memorandum was signed by Deputy Treasury and Finance Minister Osman Çelik and EBRD First Vice President Rigterink.

The financing support in question will be utilized by municipalities through the Iller Bank in the water, drinking water, sewage, solid waste, and transportation sectors.

Regarding the matter, Şimşek stated in a post on his X account, "We have mobilized all our budgetary resources in this direction."

Şimşek's post is as follows:

"Healing the wounds of the earthquake is our priority.

We have mobilized all our budgetary resources in this direction.

We are also activating cost-effective financing support from international organizations to be used in the earthquake region.

We thank the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the resources it will provide."
