Ministry announces: Budget recorded a deficit of 150.7 billion TL in January

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has announced the budget deficit.

In January, central government budget expenditures were 768 billion TL, budget revenues were 617.2 billion TL, and the budget deficit was 150.7 billion TL.

In the same month, non-interest budget expenditures were 646.9 billion TL, and the non-interest deficit was 29.6 billion TL.

BUDGET EXPENDITURES INCREASED BY 139 PERCENT

The statement said the following:

"Central government budget expenditures amounted to 767 billion 968 million TL as of January. Interest expenditures were 121 billion 93 million TL, and non-interest expenditures were 646 billion 875 million TL.

Out of the 11 trillion 89 billion 37 million TL appropriation allocated for central government budget expenditures in 2024, 767 billion 968 million TL was spent in January. In the same month of the previous year, 321 billion 320 million TL was spent.

January budget expenditures increased by 139 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The realization rate of expenditures according to budget appropriations was 5.7 percent in 2023, while it was 6.9 percent in 2024.

TAX REVENUES INCREASED

Non-interest budget expenditures increased by 115.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 646 billion 875 million TL. The realization rate of non-interest expenditures according to budget appropriations was 6.1 percent in 2023, while it was 6.6 percent in 2024.

Central government budget revenues amounted to 617 billion 249 million TL as of January. Tax revenues were 517 billion 201 million TL, and general budget non-tax revenues were 88 billion 57 million TL.

While budget revenues were 289 billion 78 million TL in January 2023, they increased by 113.5 percent in the same month of 2024, reaching 617 billion 249 million TL. According to the budget forecast, the realization rate of budget revenues for January was 5.9 percent in 2023, while it was 7.3 percent in 2024.

Tax revenue collection in January 2024 increased by 104.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 517 billion 201 million TL. The realization rate of tax revenues according to the budget forecast was 5.9 percent in 2023, while it was 7 percent in 2024."
