With the regulation published in the Official Gazette, the surveillance value for smartphone imports has been increased from 200 dollars to 250 dollars.
The Ministry of Trade has increased the value used as a basis for the surveillance practice regarding imported smartphones. With the new regulation, the customs reference value applied to smartphones has been raised from 200 dollars to 250 dollars.
The "Communiqué on Amending the Communiqué on the Implementation of Surveillance in Imports," prepared by the Ministry, was published in the Official Gazette dated July 11, 2026.
The decision will enter into force 30 days after its publication date. Accordingly, the new practice will be effective as of August 10, 2026.
The increase in the surveillance value is expected to raise the cost of imported smartphones, which is anticipated to be reflected as a price hike in retail prices in the coming period. With this regulation, the rate of increase in the reference value is 25 percent.
