Ministry imposes massive fines on major clothing brands! Discounts do not reflect reality

The Ministry of Trade has imposed a total of 4.8 million TL in administrative fines on leading clothing brands in the sector, including Beymen, Ramsey, Sarar, and Vakko, on the grounds that their "discounts do not reflect reality." The Advertising Board ruled that claims such as "up to 80 percent off" used in the campaigns in question were misleading to consumers.

Ministry imposes massive fines on major clothing brands! Discounts do not reflect reality

The Advertising Board under the Ministry of Trade has questioned the accuracy of discount campaigns applied in both physical stores and online sales channels. As a result of the evaluations, administrative fines were imposed on Turkey's leading textile brands due to misleading discount practices.

"DISCOUNT CLAIMS ARE DECEPTIVE"

According to a report by Barış Şimşek from Takvim newspaper; inspections carried out by the board revealed that claims used by many clothing companies in their campaigns, such as "up to 80 percent off," did not reflect the actual situation.

The investigations also brought to light that when the label prices of products claimed to be on sale were compared with prices from the last 30 days, no actual discount had been applied.

INSUFFICIENT STOCK, MISLEADING PERCEPTION

Furthermore, the report reflected that the stock quantities of products promoted extensively across the country were quite limited, despite the impression given to the public that the products were abundantly available. The information that only 11 units of some products were available also drew attention.

FAMOUS BRANDS ON THE LIST

Among the brands that faced punitive action due to discount campaigns that did not reflect reality were well-known firms such as Beymen, Vakko, Cacharel, Sarar, Boyner, Network, Ramsey, and D'S Damat.
