Ministry takes action: Bad news for businesses that demand IBAN payments and fail to issue invoices
As part of its efforts to combat tax evasion, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has established new reporting channels to allow customers to report businesses that demand payments via IBAN and fail to issue invoices, using social media and messaging applications.
Recently, businesses have begun requesting payments via IBAN instead of credit or debit cards, citing the increase in credit card commissions.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has also begun efforts to prevent tax evasion.
According to a report on NTV; the Ministry has announced new steps as part of its efforts to combat the informal economy.
According to a statement from the Revenue Administration (GİB), the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has launched new complaint channels for effective citizen reporting.
In this new period, those who demand payments via IBAN and do not issue receipts or invoices can be reported quickly via social media.
WHERE CAN TAX REPORTS BE MADE?
To facilitate and accelerate reports and complaints, the GİB's official website, the Digital Tax Office, GİB Mobile, and Tax Communication Center services have been updated.
In addition, the BİP Tax Reporting Service, X and Instagram Reporting Accounts (via "DM-Direct Message" on "gibihbar"), and the WhatsApp Reporting Line (0 552 189 0 189) have been put into service.
Reports can also be made through the Revenue Administration's official website (gib.gov.tr), the Digital Tax Office (dijital.gib.gov.tr), GİB Mobile, and the Tax Communication Center (189).
WHICH ISSUES CAN BE REPORTED?
According to the Revenue Administration, the issues that can be reported are as follows:
-Application of a low VAT rate
-Requesting payment via IBAN/PTT check
-Failure to provide a receipt/invoice
-Using another business's POS device
-Lack of tax registration
-Issuing or using fake/misleading documents
-Paying personnel wages in cash
-Failure to declare rental income
-Underpayment of title deed fees
-Sale of illicit products
