Following the backlash, the Ministry of Trade announced that an inspection was carried out at the business in question and that administrative action was taken due to violations of regulations.
In the video circulating on social media, a customer is seen asking the cashier, “How much was a scoop? It’s 400, right?”, to which the employee confirms the price. As the footage quickly became a trending topic, rising prices in holiday regions and consumer complaints have once again become a subject of debate.
Taking action following complaints received via CİMER and social media, the Ministry announced that administrative proceedings had been initiated against the business as a result of the inspection. In a statement made on behalf of the Ministry of Trade's Press and Public Relations Consultancy, it was stated: “Due to the violations of regulations identified as a result of the inspection, administrative action has been taken against the business; furthermore, the ice cream pricing subject to the complaint has been referred to the Unfair Price Evaluation Board.”
The Ministry stated that inspections regarding price tags and tariff obligations will continue in all 81 provinces, particularly in tourism regions where consumer activity increases during the summer months. The statement emphasized that no tolerance will be shown for practices that mislead consumers or violate regulations.
