MÜSİAD President claims to see light at the end of the tunnel in the economy: Gives message of patience
MÜSİAD Chairman Burhan Özdemir claimed that the Medium-Term Program has begun to show positive effects and that they are receiving signals of a decline in inflation. Özdemir stated, "We see the light at the end of the tunnel."
Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) Chairman Burhan Özdemir stated that the Medium-Term Program (OVP) implemented by the economic administration is yielding effective results and said they believe inflation will fall further. Özdemir said, "If we are a little more patient, we think inflation will come down even further. We see the light at the end of the tunnel."
HE SPOKE ABOUT MÜSİAD'S PROJECTS
Özdemir, who was elected as chairman at the MÜSİAD 28th Ordinary General Assembly held at the Haliç Congress Center last month, provided information about MÜSİAD's projects and economic developments in the new term. Stating that MÜSİAD has become a large non-governmental organization with 14 thousand members and 185 contact points, Özdemir expressed that the association will achieve a more institutional and coordinated structure.
MÜSİAD plans to establish an investment agency in the new term and expand into Africa and the Middle East. Özdemir stated that this agency will increase participation in international fairs and provide information exchange for investors. He also announced that they aim to establish a "measurement and evaluation center" to measure the capacities of industrialists and producers.
Özdemir said that MÜSİAD will form special policy boards in 4 areas and that these boards will focus on issues such as taxes, incentive practices, competition, and labor force. He also stated that they will focus more on African and Middle Eastern markets with mini-fairs to be held abroad.
"WE SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL"
Making economic assessments, Özdemir stated that the rise in inflation and foreign exchange over the last two years has challenged industrialists, but this situation has not brought industry to a standstill. Özdemir said, "We see light at the end of the tunnel regarding the success of the OVP," and emphasized that Turkey's rising profile in the international arena provides motivation to industrialists.
Stating that they expect the government to increase incentives for overseas expansion, Özdemir said, "More incentives and tax exemptions should be provided for the expansion of industrialists and producers abroad."
