IS STATE SUPPORT FOR ELECTRICITY BILLS BEING DISCONTINUED?
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated in his announcement in October 2024 that groups with high consumption would pay the actual cost of electricity. The Minister stated that residences with a monthly consumption of 417 kWh or more would remain outside the scope of support, while subscribers with average consumption would continue to pay bills under the existing tariff. In November, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) published a new communiqué regarding the Last Resort Supply Tariff.

WHO WILL NOT RECEIVE BILL SUPPORT?
With the EPDK decision dated 07.11.2024, the limits for the Last Resort Supply Tariff were updated. Accordingly, residential subscribers consuming 5,000 kWh annually (417 kWh monthly) or more, as well as commercial and industrial subscribers exceeding 15,000 kWh, will be billed according to the tariff determined for high-consumption subscribers starting from February 1, 2025. In addition, other subscribers with an annual consumption of 100,000,000 kWh or more and electricity used for agricultural activities have also been included in this scope.

SINCE WHEN IS THE NEW REGULATION VALID?
The regulation, which stipulates that subscribers in the high-consumption group pay their bills in full, came into effect as of February 1, 2025.
