New electricity tariff: Those subscribers will now be exempt

A new decision regarding the electricity tariff has been announced.

SUBSCRIBERS WITH HEALTH ISSUES WILL NOT BE AFFECTED

Subscribers who have patients at home dependent on medical devices due to health issues will not be affected by the regulation, provided they submit a valid medical report to their electricity distribution company. According to the new electricity tariff, groups with consumption exceeding 417 kilowatt-hours per month and a total of 5 thousand kilowatt-hours per year in 2024 will pay the actual cost as of February 1. 97 percent of electricity subscribers will not be affected by the regulation. There will be no change in the bills of 40 million out of approximately 42 million electricity subscribers.

FAMILIES OF MARTYRS ALSO EXEMPT

On the other hand, mosques, cemevis, families of martyrs, veterans, agricultural activities, village drinking water facilities, temporary shelters of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), associations, and subscribers dependent on medical devices due to health issues will be exempt from the regulation.

MEDICAL REPORT REMINDER

For consumers dependent on medical devices due to health issues, the limit under the last resort supply tariff will continue to be applied as 100 million kilowatt-hours per year, as it was previously.

Electricity distribution companies will process the applications upon the written request of consumers who are dependent on life-support devices such as electrically operated dialysis support units, ventilators, and similar equipment, and who possess supporting documentation.

Companies will also remind subscribers benefiting from this exemption to renew their medical reports 20 days before they expire.

In the event of planned power outages, these consumers will be notified in advance by electricity distribution companies through the communication channel specified by the consumer.
