New era for Turkish transporters in Saudi Arabia visas
Saudi Arabia has implemented a special multiple-entry visa category valid for 1 year for Turkish road transporters.
Following negotiations aimed at facilitating road transport between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, a new visa application has been launched for Turkish drivers. As a result of initiatives by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Saudi authorities have activated a special visa category for Turkish road transporters.
According to information shared by the General Directorate of Transport Services Regulation, a 1-year valid multiple-entry road transport visa will be issued for 300 Saudi riyals. It was stated that this amount corresponds to approximately 3,370 TL.
No fee will be charged to Turkish drivers for single-entry transit visas. Thus, it is expected that visa processes for shipments to Saudi Arabia will become more predictable and shipment planning will be facilitated.
The reopening of transit corridors through Iraq and Syria after many years has also accelerated transport to the region. According to data in the Ministry's U-Net automation system, an increase has been recorded in the number of shipments made to Saudi Arabia as companies that received visas began their shipments.
The Ministry also reported that the 4-day stay period granted for current transit passages is insufficient due to mandatory breaks in the field and route conditions. The request to extend this period to 15 days, as is the case for bilateral transport, has been conveyed to Saudi authorities through diplomatic channels.
