New era in contactless payments begins tomorrow
The limit for contactless transactions made via cards and mobile devices without a PIN is being increased to 1,500 liras starting July 1.
Starting Monday, July 1, a new era begins for contactless payments made with credit cards without the need for a PIN.
In a letter sent to banks in April, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) stated that the limit for contactless card transactions without a PIN had been increased from 750 TL to 1,500 TL.
The contactless transaction limit, which was raised to 750 liras on July 1, 2022, is being increased to 1,500 TL after 2 years.
Contactless payment methods came to the forefront in 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, as consumer sensitivity toward hygiene increased the demand for secure payment methods.
