The new regulation aims to distribute electricity subsidies more fairly. In this context, residential subscribers who consume more than 417 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will no longer be able to benefit from state support. This change particularly affects high-consumption subscribers.

REACTIONS FROM SMALL BUSINESSES

According to a report by Ekol TV, small business owners have begun to voice their complaints due to the high bills received following the new regulation. Especially for subscribers consuming more than 417 kilowatt-hours, who are deprived of state support, bills for those who paid more than 1,050 TL the previous month have doubled. This situation has significantly increased the costs for small businesses.

As an example, the electricity bill of a 10-square-meter neighborhood barbershop, which was 1,500 TL in the previous period, has risen to 3,000 TL with the new regulation. Faced with this increase, consumers first applied to distribution companies, but after receiving no results, they decided to pursue legal action.

Energy Efficiency Expert Altuğ Karataş summarized the situation by saying, "Those whose annual consumption exceeds 15 thousand kWh are facing electricity costs of around 5.5 liras. This means a 55 percent increase compared to previous years." Karataş emphasized that commercial establishments have the opportunity to purchase cheaper electricity, but they must choose their supplier companies carefully to do so.
