New information from the Central Bank regarding debt restructuring

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) has shared a video titled "What is Restructuring?" on its "Economy for Everyone" platform as part of its financial literacy and economic education initiatives. This video covers the details regarding the restructuring of credit card and personal loan debts.

In the video, where the restructuring process is explained with examples, it is stated that the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) offers the opportunity to restructure individual credit card and personal loan debts for up to 48 months. The TCMB has set the maximum interest rate to be applied in the restructuring of credit card debts at 3.11 percent.

The video states that restructuring allows debts to be reorganized under more favorable conditions. For example, if you have a credit card debt of 250 thousand TL, you were required to make a monthly payment of 30 thousand 100 TL with a 4.75 percent interest rate and a 12-month maturity before restructuring. After restructuring, the interest rate drops to 3.11 percent, the maturity is extended to 48 months, and the monthly payment amount decreases to 11 thousand 800 TL. In this way, debts can be repaid with lower installments.
