New legislative proposal for insurance coverage for housewives

MHP Ordu Deputy Naci Şanlıtürk has submitted a legislative proposal to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey aimed at bringing housewives without income under social security coverage and having their insurance premiums covered by the state.

EMPHASIS ON FAMILY IN THE JUSTIFICATION

The justification for the proposal highlights that a strong family structure is possible only by supporting women economically and socially, both in their roles within the home and in social life.

INCREASE IN CHILD BENEFITS AND NEW SUPPORT

According to information reported in the pro-government newspaper Türkiye Gazetesi, the regulation plans to increase child benefit amounts. Additionally, it envisions the implementation of a new program called "maternity support."

MONTHLY PAYMENT REGULATION FOR MOTHERS

The draft text requests that Turkish citizen mothers be paid one-fourth of the monthly net minimum wage for each child until the child reaches the age of 18.

DAYCARE MANDATE AND STATE CONTRIBUTION

The proposal also includes a provision to mandate the opening of daycare centers in workplaces with 100 or more employees. It aims for the children of parents working in these establishments to benefit from these childcare facilities free of charge.

CARE SUPPORT AND ALTERNATIVE MODELS

While the plan intends for half of the daycare expenses per child in these workplaces to be covered by the state, it also aims for employers in workplaces without daycare facilities to provide care support to working parents.
