New pearls of wisdom from 'Shakkadanak' Necmettin Batırel: Those who hold foreign currency will scream 'Oh my God'

Necmettin Batırel, a columnist for the Türkiye newspaper who became etched in memory for his words "I'll sell 10 billion dollars 'shakkadanak' (in a snap), everyone will be surprised, then I'll sell another 10 billion dollars" during a television program he attended years ago with Prof. Dr. Özgür Demirtaş, argued that the Turkish economy is writing history.

In his column titled 'If It Weren't For Him!', Batırel showered AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with praise, stating, "Confidence is increasing, reserves are overflowing with dollars, foreigners are flocking to the country with the support of the 5-year risk premium that has dropped from the 800s to 275, the flight from foreign currency is accelerating, and the Turkish Lira is gaining strength. We are the fastest-growing country among OECD countries."

Batırel stated, "The increase in reserves from the end of May to today has reached 44.1 billion dollars. Net reserves excluding swaps have increased by 21.1 billion dollars in 6.5 months, falling to minus 39.2 billion dollars. On May 25, this figure was 60.3 billion dollars... The Central Bank's coffers are full to the brim, and it no longer needs the support of foreign currencies."

"IF IT WEREN'T FOR HIM, WOULD WE SEE THIS PICTURE?"

Batırel expressed his thoughts, saying, "Previously, the Central Bank used to sell foreign currency to the market to prevent exchange rates from rising; now it is doing the exact opposite, buying foreign currency from the market so that exchange rates do not fall too much and exporters do not suffer losses. Those who hold foreign currency will scream 'Oh my God'. This picture is undoubtedly the work of the new economic management... So I ask you, who chose this team, who gave them full support? If it weren't for him, would we see this picture?"
