New record for Turkey in exports to Germany

Germany continues to maintain its top position in Turkey's exports. In the first eight months of this year, the volume of products sent to Germany increased significantly across many sectors, particularly in automotive and fresh fruits and vegetables.

New record for Turkey in exports to Germany

Germany, the locomotive of Turkey's exports, managed to remain the largest market for our country in the January-August period of 2026. Exports from Turkey to Germany showed a 3.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding a total of 13 billion 576 million dollars.

Beyond Germany, the USA, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and France also remained among Turkey's leading export markets. While exports to the USA increased by 12.9 percent in the first eight months, significant rises were also recorded in exports to Italy, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom.

HIGHEST EXPORTS FROM ISTANBUL

In exports to Germany, Istanbul-based companies once again accounted for the majority of the total amount. In the first eight months of the year, the total value of products sent from Istanbul to the German market reached 5 billion 236 million dollars, an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period last year. Following Istanbul, Bursa, Kocaeli, Izmir, and Ankara were the leading provinces in exports to Germany.

The automotive sector continued its tradition of being the leading sector in exports to Germany this year. The sector's exports to Germany rose by 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 4 billion 441 million dollars. Ready-to-wear and apparel came in second with approximately 1.6 billion dollars in exports.

Significant increases were also seen in sectors such as iron and non-ferrous metals, electrical-electronics, and chemicals. While iron and non-ferrous metals exports to Germany recorded a 13.2 percent increase, the electrical-electronics sector saw an 8.5 percent rise, and chemical substances saw an 11 percent increase.

HISTORIC LEAP IN THE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE SECTOR

One of the highlights of the year occurred in fresh fruit and vegetable exports. The sector increased its exports to Germany by 47.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, rising from 182.9 million dollars to 270.6 million dollars. This rise created satisfaction among both sector representatives and exporters.

Machinery and components exports increased by 9.9 percent, the air conditioning industry by 10 percent, and the steel sector by 6.3 percent, continuing their growth in the German market.

Across Turkey, the total export volume in the first eight months of the year achieved a growth of approximately 4 percent compared to the same period last year, rising to 185 billion dollars.

Thus, Germany has once again strengthened its key position in Turkey's foreign trade, carrying it to new heights, especially in strategic sectors such as automotive and fresh fruits and vegetables.
