New tariff for train tickets: 50 percent discount for that group! Who will be eligible?

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that they will launch a special discount campaign for families and newlywed couples on train tickets.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that the practice will be effective starting March 8, 2025. Uraloğlu said, “Families will travel more economically with a 15 percent discount on trains.”

CONDITIONS FOR FAMILY DISCOUNT CLARIFIED

Minister Uraloğlu also shared the details of the family discount. Accordingly, mothers, fathers, children, as well as grandparents will be able to benefit from this advantage. Uraloğlu stated, “Families will earn a 15 percent discount on the condition that they purchase at least 3 and at most 11 tickets.”

50 PERCENT DISCOUNT FOR NEWLYWEDS 

A different practice is being implemented for newlywed couples. Uraloğlu announced that thanks to this campaign called the “Newlywed Tariff,” couples who get married in 2025 will receive a 50 percent discount on train tickets.

WILL EXISTING DISCOUNTS CONTINUE?

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that other discounts offered by TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. will also continue. Accordingly, young children will continue to travel for free.

While children aged 0-6 can currently travel for free, those in the 7-12 age group can purchase tickets with a 50 percent discount. Special discount options are also available for young people.

Discounts for age groups will also continue. Young people between the ages of 13-26 will be able to purchase tickets with a 15 percent discount, passengers between 60-64 with a 15 percent discount, and those 65 and older with a 50 percent discount.

In addition, discounts will continue to be applied for special professional groups. Teachers, military personnel, and domestic and foreign journalists holding a press card will also be able to benefit from the 15 percent discount advantage.
