All eyes have turned to the new week for the minimum wage hike, which concerns millions of workers. While no figure emerged from the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which met 3 times, TÜRK-İŞ announced its demand as 29,583 TL following public reactions. In addition to the minimum wage, there is curious anticipation regarding what the lowest pension will be in 2025.

THE EXPECTED FIGURE FOR MINIMUM WAGE

According to the report by Türkiye Gazetesi, known for its proximity to the government, it was stated that in addition to the 2025 minimum wage figure expected to be finalized next week, the minimum wage employer support, which is 700 lira this year, will also be increased. On the other hand, the minimum wage is expected to be between 22,000 TL and 24,000 TL.

IT WILL REACH 50 BILLION LIRA BY THE END OF THE YEAR

The duration of the support provided by the state for the minimum wage for 2024 ends at the end of the month. For this reason, after the new minimum wage figure is determined, an increase will be made in the support amount, and a law will be enacted regarding this issue. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated in his speech during the budget negotiations last week that 38 billion lira in minimum wage support was provided to 1.5 million workplaces in the first nine months of 2024. This figure is expected to exceed 50 billion lira by the end of the year.

AKP SOURCES PROVIDED A FIGURE

On the other hand, what the lowest pension will be in 2025 is also a matter of curiosity. Stating that the increase to be made to the minimum wage will be influential in the rate of increase in the lowest pension, AKP sources provided a figure for the lowest pension, which is currently 12,500 TL.

Estimating that the lowest pension could be increased to 14,200 TL in 2025, AKP sources said, "After the hike to be made to the minimum wage and the pension increase rate are determined on January 3, a new figure will also be set for the lowest pension. Considering the current budget possibilities, we estimate that the lowest pension could be a figure between 13,500 and 14,200 lira. How many people will be affected, what is the cost to the budget? These studies will be carried out after the new year."
