Not even following its own circular: Jaw-dropping 'restroom' renovation from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance
It has been learned that the restrooms in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance building will be renovated at a cost of approximately 24 million liras.
While Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek was announcing public austerity measures on May 17, 2024, it has emerged that even his own ministry is not complying with this circular.
Despite a series of austerity measures announced by Şimşek, it has been learned that the restrooms in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance building will be renovated at a cost of 23 million 993 thousand TL.
MEHMET ŞİMŞEK HAD CALLED FOR NO NEW CONSTRUCTION FOR 3 YEARS
According to a report by Deniz Ayhan from Sözcü, the restrooms will be renovated over a 150-day period. In his circular, Minister Şimşek had requested that no new construction be undertaken in public institutions for a period of 3 years.
It was also announced that all procurement and construction tenders for which contracts had not been signed as of May 17, 2024, the date the circular was published, would be reviewed.
Within the scope of the tender, the restrooms and mechanical installations in 10 separate blocks located in the Ministry's Dikmen campus will be renovated.
The restroom walls and floors will be tiled with ceramic. Hilton-style sinks will be installed. Pipes, insulation and electrical wiring, wooden door frames, door leaves, windows, and glass partitions will also be replaced.
