A total of 727 thousand 630 applications were made to consumer arbitration committees in 2023, with decisions reached on 707 thousand 814 of them. The most complained-about product was footwear.

The number of applications to the Consumer Arbitration Committee in 2023 and the most complained-about product have been revealed!

A total of 727 thousand 630 applications were made to consumer arbitration committees in 2023, with decisions reached on 707 thousand 814 of them. The total monetary value of the applications decided by consumer arbitration committees in 2023 was approximately 3.9 billion liras.

ELECTRONIC APPLICATION PREFERRED

While there is an opportunity to apply to consumer arbitration committees via e-Government, consumers can easily submit their applications to consumer arbitration committees electronically through the Consumer Information System. In this context, approximately 66 percent of the applications made in 2023 (477 thousand 327 applications) were carried out electronically via e-Government, and it was observed that the electronic application method was preferred more by consumers.

FOOTWEAR WAS THE MOST COMPLAINED-ABOUT

In the distribution of applications made in 2023 based on products and services, it was seen that the most complaints were made regarding footwear. Approximately 12.5 percent of total applications (90 thousand 918 applications) were related to footwear.

This complaint topic was followed by mobile phones (38 thousand 521) with 5.29 percent, and credit card membership fees (38 thousand 252) with 5.26 percent.
Other complaint topics were clothing (33 thousand 93) with 4.55 percent, internet subscriptions (31 thousand 629) with 4.35 percent, furniture (28 thousand 952) with 3.98 percent, and GSM subscriptions (18 thousand 991) with 2.61 percent.

On a sectoral basis, the most applications were made regarding the retail trade sector (426 thousand 347) with 58.59 percent. This was followed by applications regarding the subscription services sector (77 thousand 780) with 10.69 percent and the financial services sector (75 thousand 22) with 10.31 percent.
