Number of REITs traded on the stock exchange reaches 48
Berra Doğaner, Chair of the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) Committee at the Association of Real Estate Investment Companies (GYODER), stated, "The total number of REITs traded on the stock exchange has reached 48. We expect REIT initial public offerings to continue effectively in 2024."
According to a statement from the Association of Real Estate Investment Companies (GYODER), the number of REITs traded on Borsa Istanbul reached 48 with 9 new initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2023.
In 2023, a total of 54 new companies were offered to the public on Borsa Istanbul, 9 of which were REITs. While the total IPO volume of companies reached 79 billion liras last year, REITs accounted for 15.9 billion liras of this amount. Thus, 20 percent of the IPOs by value were realized through REITs.
In the statement, Berra Doğaner noted that 2023 was a significant turning point for REITs, stating, "While the number of REITs traded on the stock exchange increased by 8 between 2014 and 2022, the IPO of 9 new REITs in 2023 is an indicator of the potential of REITs. The total number of REITs traded on the stock exchange has reached 48. We expect REIT IPOs to continue effectively in 2024."
