Number of unionized workers in Turkey announced: Only 14.97 percent...
It has been learned that 14.97 percent of workers in Turkey are unionized. While the Turkish Metal Union ranks first among all labor unions with 293,829 members, the industry with the highest number of workers was "commerce, office, education, and fine arts" with 4 million 469 thousand 945 workers.
The worker and union statistics for January 2025, prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security based on the "Law No. 6356 on Trade Unions and Collective Labor Agreements," have been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the data, there are a total of 16 million 864 thousand 733 workers in Turkey. Of these workers, 2 million 524 thousand 547 people, corresponding to 14.97 percent, are members of a labor union.
Among the industries, the sector with the highest number of workers was "commerce, office, education, and fine arts" with 4 million 469 thousand 945 people. This sector was followed by the "metal" sector with 1 million 987 thousand 733 workers and the "construction" sector with 1 million 741 thousand 475 workers.
Among the unions, the Turkish Metal Union (Türk-Metal) holds the top spot with 293,829 members. Hizmet-İş ranks second with 280,769 members, and Öz Sağlık-İş ranks third with 224,289 members.
