One in every 4 citizens faces enforcement proceedings: Number of enforcement files rises to 23 million 289 thousand

One of the most significant outcomes of the deepening economic crisis has been the increase in the number of enforcement files.

CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer stated that in the last week, 155 thousand 829 new enforcement files have arrived at enforcement offices, and 696 thousand have arrived since the beginning of the year, adding that the debt in enforcement files has increased by more than 1 billion TL in the last week, rising to 194 billion 215 million TL.

Gürer noted that the number of new files arriving at enforcement offices via UYAP from January 1 to January 26 has increased by 20 thousand files compared to the same period last year, reaching 696 thousand 420, and said, "The number of citizens who fall into enforcement proceedings because they cannot pay their debts is increasing every day. As of January 26, the number of files opened to date and currently pending in enforcement offices has risen to 23 million 289 thousand. Considering that each file is opened against one person, it turns out that one in every 4 of our citizens in the country is in a state of facing enforcement proceedings."
