Özgür Demirtaş reacts to SGK over GSS premium debt and 'e-seizure': 'Charging for a service not received'

The GSS system, which has been in practice in Turkey since 2012, aims to provide health coverage to citizens.

However, the difficulties regarding premium payments are on many people's agendas.

If GSS premiums are not paid on time, legal proceedings such as enforcement and seizure can be initiated by the Social Security Institution (SGK), and the right to benefit from health services may also be restricted.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES IF GSS DEBT IS NOT PAID?

Failure to pay GSS premium debts can lead to several serious consequences. First, if the debt continues to accumulate, legal proceedings such as enforcement and seizure can be initiated by the Social Security Institution (SGK).

This situation brings with it the risk of the debtor's assets being confiscated. Furthermore, unpaid GSS premiums can lead to restrictions on access to health services.

In other words, it may not be possible to fully benefit from health services until the entire debt is paid.

ÖZGÜR DEMİRTAŞ REACTED

Although it has been in practice for a long time, the issue of GSS premium debt, which has not been on the agenda so intensely until now, is now in the spotlight following the government's austerity measures and strict economic policies, along with reactions to the seizures.

Economist Özgür Demirtaş, who shared the e-seizure posts he received from his followers on his page, evaluated the government's e-seizure decision as a mistake and used the phrase "turn back from this mistake."

Demirtaş used the following expressions in his post on his account:

"Has the e-seizure process started for those with General Health Insurance (GSS) premium debt at the SGK?

What does it mean to charge an unemployed person for a service they did not receive?

Turn back from this mistake.

I am receiving hundreds of messages. My conscience hurts. I am fixated on this issue until it is resolved."

DEMİRTAŞ ALSO SHARED THE MESSAGES HE RECEIVED AFTER HIS POST

Demirtaş, who brought the GSS premium debt issue to the agenda, made a new post after the messages he received from his followers:

"My bringing the GSS Premium Debt issue to the agenda has made an impact.

The issue is important.

My request to the authorities: Please stop this injustice done to millions of our citizens.

PLEASE SPREAD this message of mine everywhere..."
