Preparations for tiered natural gas price hikes: Bills to double!
As Turkey debates the price increases that came with the tiered tariff system for electricity, experts state that a similar practice will be implemented for natural gas during the winter period.
With the weather getting colder, it is anticipated that natural gas bills will rise significantly as a result of the new tariff regulation to be implemented. It is stated that a structure similar to the increase seen in electricity under the current system will also be effective for natural gas.
TARIFF WARNING FROM EXPERT
Evaluating the issue, Hüseyin Kaya, Head of the Natural Gas Commission of the TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Istanbul Branch, stated, “Although the details have not been clarified, we can estimate that a 1,000 lira bill will rise to 2,000 lira, just as it did with electricity.”
COULD COME INTO EFFECT IN FEBRUARY
It is reported that the natural gas regulation, which will lead to price increases through a tiered application similar to electricity tariffs, is planned to be put into effect in February.
