Price hike for residential natural gas

Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) announced that as of August, the wholesale price of natural gas used in residences has been increased by 38 percent, and the sales price of natural gas used by free consumers with an annual consumption of 300 thousand cubic meters or less, excluding electricity generation, has been increased by 33.1 percent.

The tariff table for residential and industrial subscribers, as well as the tariff for electricity generation purposes, which will be effective in August, has been published on BOTAŞ's website.

Accordingly, as of August, the wholesale price of natural gas used in residences increased by 38 percent, and the sales price of natural gas used by free consumers with an annual consumption of 300 thousand cubic meters or less, excluding electricity generation, increased by 33.1 percent.

There was no change in the wholesale price of natural gas used for electricity generation or in the sales price of natural gas used by free consumers with an annual consumption of 300 thousand and 1 cubic meters or more, excluding electricity generation.

The tariff for industrial subscribers was set at 8 thousand 549 liras per 1000 cubic meters of natural gas for tier 1, and 11 thousand 380 liras for tier 2.

In the tariff for electricity generation purposes, the price of 1000 cubic meters of natural gas was announced as 12 thousand liras.

The sales price that BOTAŞ will apply to distribution companies for residential consumers in August was announced as 5 thousand 631 liras per 1000 cubic meters of natural gas.

Natural gas price tariffs are calculated on a monthly basis.

In the announcement on the institution's website, the following statement was used: "Our organization's natural gas wholesale prices are determined at the most reasonable level possible, taking into account market conditions, market price stability, the decisions of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority regarding tariffs, and changes in procurement-operating expenses, which are cost factors, and are offered to consumers."
