Protest against 'insufficient' price hike in Çorum
In the Alaca district of Çorum, the price of a 200-gram loaf of bread, previously sold for 7 liras, has increased to 8 liras. One baker has decided not to implement the price hike to protest that the increase is insufficient.
Tuncay Uysal, a baker in the district, said, "Due to the increases in the prices of flour, natural gas, and other products we use in bread production, we have raised the prices of bread and pita.
We have increased the price of 200-gram bread, pita, simit, and poğaça products, which were previously sold for 7 liras, by 1 TL and offered them for sale at 8 TL.
While implementing this hike, we were careful not to burden the people of Alaca. Alaca was the last district in the entire Çorum province to implement a price hike.
In some districts, bread of the same weight is sold for 10 liras. Bread was being sold at the cheapest price among the districts in Alaca," he stated.

PROTEST AGAINST THE PRICE HIKE
Uğur Bayrak, who operates a bakery in the district, said, "The price hike implemented does not cover our costs. Our bakeries use natural gas, our workplaces are rented, and the prices of the manufacturing products we use have skyrocketed.
As a bakery, we do not accept the 1 TL price hike.
In order to protest this price hike, we are not raising the price of bread and are continuing to sell it for 7 liras," he said.
