Public banks' ATM network is expanding
Within the scope of Turkey's ATM Center (TAM) project, the ATMs of public banks have been gathered under a single roof, reaching 12 thousand ATMs. The project aims to ensure transactions are carried out without costs or commissions.
The project, which was launched last year and covers the ATMs of banks such as Ziraat Bankası, VakıfBank, Halkbank, Ziraat Katılım, Vakıf Katılım, and Emlak Katılım, combines models from different manufacturers into a single system. In this way, software is unified and operations are centralized, offering customers faster and more advantageous service.
SYSTEM DEVELOPED WITH THE CONTRIBUTION OF TURKISH ENGINEERS
Efe Berber, ATM Analysis and Test Manager at Bileşim Finansal Teknolojiler ve Ödeme Sistemleri AŞ, the executor of the project, stated in his remarks at TEKNOFEST that 12 thousand ATMs belonging to public banks are active across 81 provinces. Berber said, "Over 50 million transactions take place monthly, and the total transaction volume exceeds 150 billion liras." He also emphasized that the ATMs serve almost like a "mobile branch" in Turkey, whereas in Europe, they are used only for depositing and withdrawing money.
Berber stated that the TAM platform was developed entirely by Turkish engineers and that it is planned to integrate 4 thousand 500 more ATMs into the system. Noting that other banks could join the project in the future, Berber said that the transaction sets are constantly expanding and that the ATMs offer many services ranging from bill payments to institutional transactions.
