Published in the Official Gazette: Ban on foreign currency payments lifted for 6 conditions
With the decision published in the Official Gazette, the ban on foreign currency payments has been relaxed. The 6 conditions required for payment were also listed in the decision.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has published the Communiqué on Amending the Communiqué Regarding Decree No. 32 on the Protection of the Value of Turkish Currency in the Official Gazette.
With the regulation, the implementation principles of the ban on foreign currency payments have been redefined. Accordingly, the obligation to make all payments in Turkish Lira has been lifted.
According to the report on NTV; past obligations can be fulfilled in foreign currency under the 6 conditions included in the regulation.
Areas where payments can be made in foreign currency are as follows:
• Negotiable instruments denominated in foreign currency
• Invoices issued before 19/4/2022
• Precious metal trading transactions carried out in foreign currency on the stock exchange
• Exports to be carried out through Foreign Trade Capital Companies
• Payment obligations for warehouses and temporary storage areas
• Delivery of goods by companies operating in the free trade zone
